Current Practice

You are worthy of compassion, positive self-regard, healing, forgiveness, and redemption. No matter how broken, hopeless, or hurt you may feel, healing is possible if you are ready to make some changes and find the right person to walk alongside you on your path. However, therapy is not only about working through difficult things, but also about exploring what you love. What makes you feel inspired? What sparks your passion? What are your strengths? If you’re having difficulty answering these questions, Jacki wants to find some answers together.

Jacki believes that therapy can be an empowering and transformational tool to help people heal and move towards their goals, to process and accept their pasts, to make changes that can help people feel better in the present, and to move into a deeper relationship with oneself. She specializes in working with people who are processing trauma, coping with substance use issues, identify as survivors of intimate partner abuse/violence, and are interested in breaking intergenerational cycles. Serving as a professional therapeutic writing mentor, Jacki has also helped people process difficult experiences and truly believes in the healing power of creative self-expression. Jacki is deeply committed to anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and gender-affirming practices, and works hard to understand how each person’s culture and cultural experiences influence their world. She identifies as a queer third-generation Chicana, and loves to work with people who like to understand their experiences based on their personal identities.

Jacki Othon sees clients via telehealth and in-person in Aurora, CO, and has a Masters of Social Work from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. She is supervised by Lauren Shelton LCSW #09924593, LAC #0798.
