Current Practice

Sarah Fernandez is a Doctoral Intern at the University of Denver who will be spending the year at the Center for Valued Living and seeing primarily Spanish-speaking clients. Sarah takes an approach to therapy that is based in freedom from judgment so that her clients can grow comfortable bringing their whole, authentic selves to therapy and knowing they will be welcome. She practices primarily from an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy framework but also incorporates elements of attachment, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and other theoretical approaches. Equipped with a J.D. from the University of Texas and a background in criminal defense, Sarah comes to therapy with a nuanced understanding of the complexity of living, how and why people find themselves in difficult junctures, and with a deeply empathetic perspective.
