Kaiser has three regions for the commercial plans they provide to their consumers - Southern, Metro Denver and Northern. For the southern region plans, they have a contract for behavioral health services with Beacon Health (formerly Value Options) so clients with those plans can be seen by providers outside of Kaiser facilities, as they do not have behavioral health-specific facilities in the southern region of Colorado.
Kaiser does have behavioral health services in their facilities for the Metro Denver Region so a Kaiser patient with a Metro Denver plan would not be able to be seen by one of our participating providers unless they received pre-authorization. In most cases, unfortunately, a pre-authorization would likely not be granted since clients with these plans can be seen at a local behavioral health Kaiser facility.
The Northern Region would also be treated the same way.
The Southern region is the only region that will allow patients to be seen without a pre-authorization since they do not offer behavioral health in their own facilities.
Clients can call the Kaiser Behavioral Health line at 303-471-7700 if they would like to try to get a pre-authorization to see one of our participating providers with Beacon commercial plans. If the member is a Southern Region member, Beacon Health can be called to verify benefits at 866-702-9026 and to verify that the provider they would like to see can accept their specific Kaiser plan. If there is a Kaiser patient who has either received the pre-authorization or is a Southern Region member, the claim would be submitted to Beacon Health.
